Bariatric Pre-surgical evaluations

Obesity is associated with various health concerns including heart disease, diabetes, and early death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are 93 million adults with obesity in the US, representing 39.8% of the adult population.

Unlike most other serious medical problems for which surgery is required, the surgical treatment of morbid obesity requires a pre-surgical psychological evaluation.

The goal of a presurgical Bariatric evaluation is to determine if the individual is fit to undergo bariatric surgery. The evaluation consists of obtaining a thorough clinical and psychosocial history as well as identifying any contraindications present.

In addition, it is important to understand the individual’s support system. Studies have shown that individuals with strong family and community support are more likely to have better outcomes.

Individuals seeking pre-surgical operations must have a referral from their doctor. Prior authorization from insurance for this service is not a guarantee of payment to our office.  Hence, any evaluation services provided by our office must be paid in full before we release any reports or evaluations to the client/individual.

Evaluations can be performed virtually through our Telehealth platform or in-person.

We serve clients in the State of Florida. Evaluations are performed by Licensed clinicians.
